Driving through Sligachan recently we slowed for a large group of tourists at the roadside,thinking that perhaps there had been an accident. Fortunately, no accident, just a large Highland cow in the field who was basking in his new-found fame as the centre of attention for the camera-clicking spectators. It made us realise how the creatures we see every day - we have added seals and deer to the group - are exotic and unusual to visitors. So, click away at the cows and, at this time of year, their hairy offspring but do keep on your side of the fence. Hamish and his lady-friends can run an awful lot quicker than you!
